We’re Having a Baby!
My wife and I always wanted kids but due to medical issues, it looked like we weren’t going to be able to have any. (And I’ll tell you, that made working on Up and then watching it with Tracy that much more emotional.) But then we heard about a surrogacy program in India. So we looked into it, traveled to India last year and now it looks like it’s actually happening. We’ll be going back to India and when we come back, we’ll be parents!

Congrats! Load up on sleep now! Our baby arrived two weeks ago and I am averaging about 4 hours a night. Your mom must be thrilled to have another grandkid (and I am sure that my mom and your mom will be talking about it incessantly)

Heh, it’s funny that you should mention sleep. I was at work until 2am last night because we’re hitting crunch time. But as we used to say at Carnegie Mellon, “I can sleep when I’m dead.” =)
Seriously, though, I’ll be taking some paternal leave and hopefully the 4 hours of sleep at night will be offset by napping during the day.

Congratulations! It’ll be everything you’ve heard and more! (And, boy, that Up scene is just devastating—I can only imagine your reactions.) This is the happiest news you can get!

Thanks! I wouldn’t call the scene in Up devastating, but I would say it’s very powerful, especially if you can relate to that situation.

My wife was about 3 months pregnant when we saw Up! and that scene was a bit tough to watch for both of us. Its a shame that Pixar hasn’t invented a teleporter because that flight back from Mumbai to SF is going to be a long one with a baby (lots of diapers, formula, and patience). But you better get in all of the extreme sports you can before your little one arrives because once s/he does, you will never want to do anything crazy again!

Congratulations Mach and Tracy! Awesome news.

Yippee!! Congrats to you both! (And responses about that scene in UP are spot on. I went through surgical menopause in my twenties, never had kids. But 25 years later, that scene got to me. All those memories from the past came flooding back.)
Anyway… what terrific news for the new year!! Congrats again!! 8^)
