  • iPad 2

It seems likely that Apple will unveil the iPad 2 on Wednesday. Of course, the biggest question is whether or not it’ll bump up sales of my iPad game, Castle Tiles… =)

But I suppose another big question is: what are the new features going to be? My guess is that it’ll have a camera, be a little thinner, and be significantly faster. I doubt that I’ll get one since I’m quite happy with the one I’ve got already (although my wife uses it a lot more than I do).

Sure, it’d be fun to take pictures with the iPad. But I’ve got, like, a camera for that. I suspect that if there is a camera on the iPad 2, it’ll be more significant for the kind of apps you can now use with the iPad than for the fact that you can take pictures with it.

  • Baby Haircut

It’s the baby’s first haircut! I wanted to go with a fauxhawk but was overruled by his mother.

  • File Sharing and NSArchiver

So, with iOS 4, you can now enable your apps to transfer files back and forth from your computer. This is great because it could potentially let you, say, create something cool with a certain Holograms app and then share it with your friends.

There’s just one hitch, the current file sharing system only lets you share individual files, not entire folders. And it just so happens that I stored my holograms as folders. So there are two options:

    1. compress and decompress your folders as zip files
    2. use NSArchiver

As it happens, I tried both. I’m not totally sure which way I’m going to end up using, but I’m leaning towards NSArchiver.

  • Chronic Back Pain and Leg Warmers

I’ve had chronic lower back pain for nearly a decade. Or, I should say: I used to have chronic lower back pain. What happened? Well, I’ve known for a while that it was caused by the fact that I have tight hamstrings. Like, tight enough to bounce a quarter off of. Doing stretches helped, but my lower back still hurt.

Then one day I wondered if they were tight because they’re always cold. So I tried wearing leg warmers under my pants. Amazingly, the pain went away. Sure, it feels a little silly but it’s definitely worth it. I can even touch my palms to the floor now when I stretch to touch my toes. So if you’ve got lower back pain and tight hamstrings, give it a shot.

  • Cooking with Mach! Cutting Onions

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJ1SXlGy23c

I am a horrible cook. I once screwed up French toast. But hey, at least I can help prep. Also, I like experiments. So if I ever had a cooking show, it’d probably be something like this.

  • Zoolander’s Back!

My motorcycle is back from the shop! So now I can get back to doing all sorts of things like take my baby out for a quick ride around town.

I kid, I kid… I would never let him ride without a helmet. Safety first!

  • The Unsexiest

A couple of my friends (one male, one female) were talking about profile pics for an online dating site they’re on. Apparently, the three “don’t”s for men are:

    • don’t show your chest or abs if you’re over 30
    • don’t hold a baby
    • don’t pose in front of your car

Of course, this meant that I had to pose with my shirt open holding my baby in front of my car. Happy Valentine’s Day!

  • Power Steering

While my motorcycle was gone, one of my friends generously offered to let me use his truck for a while. It was almost the exact opposite from my motorcycle in almost every conceivable way except for one: they both didn’t have power steering.

Lack of power steering is, of course, unnecessary for a motorcycle. But for five thousand pounds of metal? Egads. It was like steering a tank with a Sit-N-Spin. I nearly clipped three cars just trying to make right turns. And then I had to park in our parking lot, which is challenging under the best of circumstances…

I decided to take the bus for the next few days.

  • Welcome Verizon!

If you’re coming to this page because you just bought a new iPhone on the Verizon network, welcome! Are you excited because you finally get a chance to buy iPhone apps? Well, I’m pretty excited because I finally get to sell to Verizon customers. Maybe we can work something out… Check out my apps!

(And for those of you new to this site, it’s just a random blog of stuff that I happen to be involved in. Sometimes it’s about iPhone apps, sometimes it’s about baby stuff, sometimes it’s about my on-again off-again motorcycle, … it’s kind of eclectic.)

  • Superbowl

I’m not a big football fan, but I did go to school in Pittsburgh and it just so happens that my sister-in-law’s family are into the Pittsburgh Steelers as well. They’re the ones that got the baby this really cute outfit. So we were rooting for Pittsburgh to win.

Actually, he is really into cheese, and apparently, the Green Bay Packers fans are called “Cheeseheads”, so I think his allegiance might have been split. In any case, the party was a lot of fun, even though I barely followed what was going on. Everything’s more fun with food and friends!
