Update: Welcome, visitors from Joystiq and beyond! Please feel free to check out the rest of this website. And if you happen to have an iPhone or iPod Touch, check out my apps ’cause baby diapers and food are expensive! It’s like the boy just eats and poops 24-7…
At our baby shower, one of our friends, Asaki Oda, offered to paint our nursery for us. Now, Asaki is a professional set designer for theater plays and clothing stores so this wasn’t just a simple offer of “I’ll paint it blue for you”, but more along the lines of “I’ll make something cool.”
She asked us what kind of style we’d like. I wanted something with big, simple, yet bold shapes with bright colors and cute characters. Then I thought, what about the video game Loco Roco? My wife and I both loved that game. And you couldn’t ask for cuter characters.
So we left the country for a month to pick up our baby. While we were out, Asaki and four more of our dear friends went to work and when we returned, this is what we came back to!

Got a squid on the way. I am so going to do this (close friend is an illustrator).
Damn, I wish I was talented enough to make something like that!
You considered getting the rest of your house videogame’d up?
Anyway, best of luck with your future endeavours and may you have many more awesome rooms ahead of you.
Thanks! But I think one video game themed room is enough for this house… =)
Awesome nursery, Mach!
Wow, I wish my baby brother and sister had this design in their room. I showed it to my mum, and even though she’s never seen LocoRoco before, she thinks it looks absolutely amazing. Most likely the best and cutest design ever, congratulations guys.
That’s the most cosmopolitan nursery I’ve seen!
I have seen some of Asaki’s other murals and they are great too, but this one is really different. I have no doubt this baby will be a very talented visual artist.
