Wherefore blog?

Contrary to popular belief, “wherefore” is not an old English-y way of saying “where”, it’s “for what reason”. Ie., “Wherefore art thou Romeo?” actually means, “Why are you Romeo?”. So here, I’m asking, why blog? Because I’ve got a Bluesky account for random thoughts, an Instagram account for random drawings and such, a YouTube account for longer form videos, and I’ve started using the iPhone’s Journal app for a personal journal.

But I’ve missed working on projects and having a place to document them. So this seems like a nice place to do it.

Speaking of things I miss, remember Google Reader?! It shut down back in 2013, apparently a few months before I left Pixar. Back then, the internet was more a collection of websites you’d visit and an RSS reader (like Google Reader) was one of the ways to keep track of them. So I don’t even know if anyone reads blogs anymore. But if you’re reading this one, drop a comment!

    Hi Mach!

I’ve been reading and following you since the Pixar days and I still subscribe to your blog via RSS. So yes, your blog is being read. 😉
    Greetings from Germany.

Hi Mach, I read your blog via the NetNewsWire RSS reader app on Mac/iPhone. There’s a bunch of great blogs out there & some sites like Tumblr support RSS so you can follow specific feeds easily.
