Tomorrow is a pretty big day in American politics. We’re going to vote and decide who the leader of our country is for the next four years. Don’t worry, I’m not going to tell you who to vote for, or even tell you that you have to vote if you can. It’s not my place to say. I just write a little blog about stuff I work on (my “werx”, as it were…) that a few people occasionally read. (And I truly appreciate the time you spend here reading it.)

But I have spent a lot of time discussing politics with people of all sorts of political dispositions. And while I don’t agree with all of them, I have learned that there are good smart people of virtually every political persuasion. So, if anything, I would like to encourage you to keep in mind that the people who disagree with you politically are not bad people.

We all want the same sorts of things; peace and prosperity, health and happiness, etc. At best, our political opinions are noble ideas on how to achieve those things. But the truth is that we can’t ever know those things for certain, they’re just guesses based on our personal experiences. Our political system is designed to try to collect those individual guesses and use them to shape this nation’s destiny, an attempt to use the wisdom of the crowds to answer some of the most important questions in our lives. And I believe that system and our faith in it is more important than who you vote for.
